Acoustics

Noise control in industry
Sound is present everywhere. Only when it causes nuisance or poses a risk to health are measures necessary. At Henisol we tackle noise problems in a targeted way and in the right order:

  • Tackling at the source
  • Limiting the transmission
  • Limiting the transmission

This way, we always ensure an effective and durable solution.

Acoustics

Silencers

Silencers are used when machines produce noise through airflows, such as at inlets and outlets. Think for example of:

  • fans and blowers
  • pumps
  • chimneys
  • ventilation openings

What do we do?
We design and produce custom silencers, based on:

  • our own sound measurements
  • applicable standards and customer requirements
  • technical conditions such as pressure drop, temperature and space

Possible versions:

  • Round silencers (with or without core)
  • Louvre silencers
  • Reflection / resonance silencers
  • Chimney silencers
  • Ventilation grilles

Advantages:

  • Lower noise levels
  • Compliance with laws and regulations
  • Better working environment

Sound enclosures

When a machine radiates noise in all directions, an enclosure often offers the best solution. Applications:

  • compressors
  • production lines
  • pumps and motors
  • valves and piping components

How do we work?
We design enclosures fully custom-made, tailored to:

  • available space
  • desired noise reduction
  • maintenance and accessibility

Using sound measurements, we determine the optimal wall structure and construction.

Versions:

  • Self-supporting panels
  • Constructions with internal frame
  • Materials such as aluminium, stainless steel or plastisol (RAL colour possible)

Advantages:

  • Strong noise reduction at the source
  • Fully custom-made
  • Durable and robust solution

Noise barriers

When source measures are not possible, the transmission of noise can be limited with noise barriers. These barriers:

  • block direct sound
  • absorb sound waves
  • extend the transmission path (creating additional damping)

Applications:

  • large installations
  • complex or hard-to-reach situations

On complex projects we work together with specialised engineering firms for precise calculations.

Versions:

  • Prefab constructions
  • On-site assembly
  • Panels or sandwich systems

On complex projects we work together with specialised engineering firms for precise calculations.

Advantages:

  • Effective noise reduction at a distance
  • Suitable for large installations
  • Flexibly applicable

Absorption and insulation materials

Poor acoustics in a room can cause annoying reverberation and poor intelligibility.

  • foam and fibre insulation
  • mineral wool solutions

Applications:

  • reducing reverberation
  • improving speech intelligibility
  • limiting noise transmission between spaces

One example is the application of expansion packs above partition walls, which effectively limits noise transmission.

Advantages:

  • Quieter working environment
  • Less reverberation
  • Better communication

Pipe insulation (acoustic)

Piping can be an important source of noise nuisance. We apply acoustic pipe insulation according to the mass-spring principle:

  • absorbing insulation layer (spring)
  • weighted outer cladding (mass)

If necessary, we build up this system in multiple layers for extra damping. Combinations with cold insulation are also possible.

Advantages:

  • Effective damping of pipe noise
  • Combinable with thermal insulation
  • Applicable in complex situations

Standards and quality

Henisol works according to recognised guidelines, including:

  • CINI manual (chapter 9)
  • ISO 15665 (acoustic insulation of pipework and appendages)

These standards form the basis for reliable and proven solutions.
